Massey Ferguson 240 QD

£7950
I believe a very early production Massey 240, with the gold badge on the grill
The tractor starts and runs perfectly and cleanly without any breathing, The tractor is lively and pulls well. the working hour clock shows 3100 hours, which to me appears could be true.
the 8 x 2 gearbox gives a bit more flexibility over the 135 predecessor. The clutch is smooth and bite point feels right. Brakes and hand brake all good.
The tractor is fitted with dual clutch, though I will say there is a bit of drag on the clutch, when first engaging ( this may clear with use, or need attention) Once engaged though the dual clutch works fine.
Linkage is responsive and the pick up hitch works perfectly, there is also a hyd outlet for trailer tip etc
Condition wise, its a straight old thing, the panel work is complete and straight. The cab doors are good, the cab itself does have some areas of rust, namely below the side windows, where someone has substituted filler with hubba-bubba. there is also a bit around the lower quarterlights, but nothing horrendous and it is all solid. All glass present, seat cushion gone. Lights all work, indicators don’t (not investigated)
wheels are all good and the tyres have good tread throughout, with minor cracking.
Steering and front axle tight, doesn’t wonder or wobble at speed
In summary a very complete tractor, ready, for work, play, preservation or restoration.
