Massey Ferguson 35

SOLD

1958 4 cylinder diesel 35.

Engine is reluctant to start from cold without a bit of start aid. Once running, it restarts fine when warm. Smokes initially, this clears quite a lot once warmed up and driven, but never runs completely cleanly. Engine has good oil pressure, and no nasty noises but I would say, if you want to avoid having to use starting aid, the engine needs some level of overhauling (kits from about £250). Not a lot of breathing or dipstick blow, and once warmed up its actually not bad at all!

All three gears plus reverse and high and low ranges function fine. the clutch is smooth and pleasant to use.

Linkage works, as does the PTO which is a live drive unit

Steering is lovely light and direct

Brakes could probably do with a bit adjustment and use, they do work, but need a good boot to emergency stop

All tyres agaed and cracked, but plenty of tread and hold air.

Tinwork wise its very complete panel wise. No real significant rust anywhere. The Bonnet has had a knock on the nose but otherwise straight, wheels are in good order, without significant rust or knocks

Live reg and V5

Overall, a complete little tractor with overall good tinwork, it drives very nicely, but obviously would like a bit of an overhaul on the engine front. Well worth doing, could be a really nice tractor, and those 4 cyls are lovely once they are sorted!
