1999 Zetor 8540 4wd

Just in direct from a Fenland arable farm due to retirement, owned for the last 15 years, with one other owner since 2000.

Well equipped, tidy, straight, rust free tractor that has clearly never been exposed to livestock, the hours are unknown the clock seems to have gone haywire, it looks to have stopped around 8000 , looking at the tractor and wear and tear, I personally think it looks more like a 5000 hour tractor

The engine has undergone a recent bottom end rebuild plus a few other bits, at a cost of over £5000. the engine starts fine with a few seconds of heat. it does smoke a bit to start, but pretty much clears once warm. the tractor does breathe a bit too. Tractor pulls well and I took it on a 20 mile round trip dragging another tractor on a trailer the other day and it goes well.

It has a 3 speed and reverse gear box which has a nice positive feel to it, there is also a 3 speed clutchless splitter which works perfectly. there is also a high an low range box giving 18 forward and 6 reverse in total, Top speed is 40k. The clutch was also done during the engine repair.

Foot brakes are a bit typically Zetor Spongey, but they do the job – handbrake works fine

Air compressor fitted

Linkage all good and operating smoothly as is the independent hydraulic PTO. Fitted with PUH with hydraulic locking which is nice as removes the need for cable

Three spools fitted

Wheels are sound and straight, rear tyres are getting down, but are not overly expensive to replace, and this can be arranged for the new buyer if desired. Fronts are good.

Nice light smooth powered steering

V5 Present

Full set for front weights

The cab is clean and in good order, not smoked in, no rot, good mats, original glass, nice flat floor, very spacious

Lights largely work, couple of bulbs required, and indicator stalk needs some attention
